If you are applying for your first DCBC certificate please select the category below which is most applicable to your situation.
Recent graduate of a DCBC-accredited school
If you are a recent graduate of a DCBC-accredited occupational diver training establishment (DTE) you are able to apply for a two-year initial certificate, and pay only half the regular fee. Please select the category of certificate applicable to you from the drop-down list below.
Recent graduate of a non- accredited DTE
If you are a recent graduate of a DTE which is not accredited by the DCBC you may still be able to apply directly to the DCBC, or you may have to undergo a Prior Learning Assessment (PLAR). For example if you graduated from a DTE in Australia, France, Norway or the United Kingdom and have sufficient bottom time to meet the CSA Competency Standard you may apply directly to DCBC for certification. If this is the case, please select the category of certificate applicable to you from the drop-down list below.
If you gradated from a DTE elsewhere you may have to undergo a PLAR. Please contact the DCBC office to clarify.
An experienced diver holding a foreign certificate
Most experienced divers holding a certificate from Australia, France, Norway or the United Kingdom may apply directly to the DCBC for certification. If this applies to you please click HERE to go to the Crossover page.
Divers holding certificates from other countries should contact the DCBC to confirm whether or not they need a PLAR.
An experienced diver or supervisor without any certification
An experienced diver or supervisor without any certification will have to undergo a Prior Learning Assessment (PLAR) at an accredited DTE. All supervisors must attend a supervisor course before they can be certified.
