Supervisor Bursary
Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) Supervisor Bursary
The Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) is pleased to continue to offer a bursary to be given to a diver who intends to undertake dive supervisor training within 12 months of receipt of the bursary. The first bursary was awarded in April 2022. Subsequently a bursary will be presented at every Canadian Underwater Conference and Exhibition (CUCE). The bursary will take the form of a non-transferable voucher, with a maximum value of $850 CAD, which the candidate will present to the course provider who will submit it to the DCBC for payment.
The purpose of the bursary is to highlight the importance of dive supervisor training and certification, and to encourage divers to apply for such training by assisting them with the cost of a supervisor's course. The bursary may be applied to the cost of any DCBC-accredited supervisor course delivered in Canada or the USA.
Criteria for Selection
All applicants, be they SCUBA or Surface Supplied Divers, must have documentation which demonstrates DCBC certification as a diver, three years diving experience as a diver and 200 logged dives as a diver. All applications must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from an employer and/or supervisor and an essay, written by the candidate, explaining why they want to be a supervisor and what makes a good supervisor. Applications may be emailed to admin@divercertification.com and must be received in the DCBC office by March 1, 2024.
Selection and Presentation
The winning candidates will be selected by the directors and staff of the DCBC and will be announced on the DCBC website and in the Canadian Association of Diving Contractors (CADC) magazine.
